IT'S A GIRL!!!!

Well, it was seventeen years in the making, but on November 30, 2011 the newest Armstrong was born and she just happened to be a girl.  This little girl had just broken a serious record simply by being born.  It had been seventeen years since the last Armstrong girl (Miss Brookelyn Eastman).  Boy, after boy, after boy, was born (7 boy grandchildren and 2 boy great grandchildren).  So after years of matchbox cars, dirt, toy guns, and rough housing, we can embrace pink, baby dolls, tea parties, and dancing.  YES!!!

So many wonderful things have occurred since the last blog post.  So many in fact, that I almost don't know where to start.  I'll begin with November 5, 2012.  It was a Saturday designated for Emily's baby shower.  She and Matt had a great crowd of family and friends and received many gifts.  Like the diaper cake pictured below from Emily's sister April.

Well, it turns out that Jaime had received his mission call.  What better place to open it then with a room full of family and friends.  Once all presents had been opened and baby shower cake had been had by all we gathered round Jaime as he opened and read aloud his mission call.

Jaime received his mission call to Roseville, CA.  Spanish speaking.  He would be leaving in 5 weeks.  Wow.  It was a great feeling of pride for the Armstrong clan to have its first missionary.  We were all excited but it is also a bittersweet thing to send a member of your family off to strange parts for two years.

Well, just when you thought things couldn't get any more exciting, Mark Shore showed up.

He came to Charleston for a weekend visit with his lifelong friend Susie Edwards.  Susie had met half the Armstrongs already and she just about met the rest of us on this trip.  It was a nice day of family and things that were to come.

James Charles Armstrong IV GRADUATES

On Saturday May 28, 2011 James Charles Armstrong IV, better known to us as Jaime, graduated from Summerville High School. He wore ropes of many colors signifying different academic achievements. In addition to his intense academic schedule which included at least three AP courses, Jaime participated in Teacher Cadets.

Jaime will spend the Summer hanging out with friends and family. He will also work park time in Charleston with Laura's flower shop A Bella Bouquet. Jaime also has an internship lined up in July to work at Operational Technologies in San Antonio. So in addition to a trip to Texas to work he will be able to spend time with the Texas family.

Most exciting is Jaime's first trip of the Summer with his immediate family. James, Carol, Jaime and Alexander will all be leaving Saturday June 4 for a cruise to the Bahamas (among other places). Hope y'all have a wonderful time and don't forget sunscreen.

Hey, and Congratulations on graduating Jaime. Your future has just began. We are all very proud of your accomplishments and look forward to seeing you achieve much much more!
